He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Dillon and Frances Regina Dillon Dever (O'Brien); and his siblings, Leo Dillon, Mary Ferguson and Claire Muldoon.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Marie Dillon (McCollum); his children, Jennifer Fisher (Brian) of Sicklerville, NJ, Joseph P. Dillon (Donna) of Georgetown, DE and Matthew Dillon (Erika Kalmus) of East Point, MI.; his grandchildren, Everley Russo-Dillon, Luca Kalmus and Jaxen Dillon; his sister Frances Biggins (Joseph) of Waynesboro, VA; and his siblings-in-law, James McCollum of Georgetown and Jacqueline Liberati (Ron) of Brigantine, NJ. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Melson Funeral Services - Long Neck Chapel (32013 Long Neck Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966). A prayer will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Joe's name to The Brandywine Valley SPCA (https://bvspca.org) in Georgetown, DE.
