In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests that donations in Dave's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Brandywine SPCA in Georgetown, Delaware.

“I always looked forward to meeting Dave on one of my walks about the neighborhood or seeing he and his lovely bride Carol walking their dogs. Each was an opportunity to strike up a conversation of just about anything, inevitably leading to a lesson in biology, entomology, chemistry, or physics. Dave was such a wealth of knowledge! His way of explaining even complex subjects was amazing and usually left me with homework to fully grasp what I just learned. I miss him already.”

“Dave was a kind, gentle, caring guy and a great neighbor. His passion for teaching and his students were admirable and exceptional. His family and dogs Beau and Baxter were his greatest treasures and he loved them fiercely. Dave’s interest of nature, animals and insects were extraordinary. He would step over ants, put worms back in the grass, rescue baby caterpillars, release spiders back into the garden and open windows for bees to fly home. The world needs more people like Dave.
