It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Gardner of Hockessin, Delaware, born in Dallas, Pennsylvania, who passed away on February 14, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Covert and Kathryn Covert; and her siblings, Elizabeth Price (Beth), John Covert (Jack) and Jane Langshaw.

She is survived by: her significant other Philip Howard Gardner; her children, Susan Gardner LaMedica (John), Linda Gardner Mullin (Kerry) and John Gardner (Tim Whelan); her grandchildren, Kyle Mullin (Melissa), Emily Mullin Pate (Justin), Nick LaMedica (Kate Hoffman) and Kelsey Whelan (Nick Winikoff); and her great grandchildren, Adelaide, Alexandra, Ainsley Pate, Brianna Mullin and Baby Winikoff. She is also survived by her husband and children.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Shirley's memory.
