He was predeceased by: his siblings, Nora, Mary, Julia, Elizabeth, Patrick and Ann Marie; and his parents, Timothy Francis Dowling and Julia Collins Dowling.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Holohan Dowling; his children, Julia Dowling Dunn (Jim Dunn), Kathleen Dowling Caccamo (Natale Caccamo) and Timothy Francis Dowling (Rebecca Dowling); his granddaughters, Francesca and Giovanna Caccamo; and his sisters-in-law, Iris Holohan and Dolores Dowling. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
