We announce the death of Gene K. Byrd of Laurel, Delaware, who passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 84. Gene will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Garner Elijah Byrd and Bertie Florence Byrd; his brothers, Drury Albert "Pete" Byrd, Ulbert Wiley "John" Byrd, James Byrd, Edsell Ford Byrd and Darryl Byrd; his daughter Lisa Marie Byrd; and his friends, Gayle Martinson and Barry Boltz.
He is survived by: his wife Juanita Joan Byrd; his daughters, Deborah Brumbley and Christine Byrd-Drew; his grandchildren, Steven Hastings II, Mitch Byrd, Amanda Brumbley, Eugene Brumbley and Danielle Drew; his great grandchildren, Steven Hastings III, Sophia Byrd and Marceline Byrd; his great great grandchild Cannon Hastings; his friends, Roger Martinson, Sr., Kathy Boltz, Tom and Jean Baker; and his pet Bart.
