With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Wayne Lawton of Laurel, Delaware, who passed away on February 2, 2026 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though John Wayne may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John Wayne touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Lawton and Doris Lawton; his wife Joan Lawton; and his son Jimmy Dunn. He is survived by: his children, Linda Bailey (Robert) and Kevin Lawton; and his siblings, Fred Lawton and Kathy Rohall (Bill). He is also survived by four grandchildren, six great grandchildren.
