She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Cooper and Louise Cooper; her son Ronald "Ronnie"; her husband Donald Hitchens Sr.; her son Tyrone Hitchens; her siblings, Carmetta Holden (Donald), Bertha Hitchens (Robert), Hattie Puckham (Eugene) and Richard Cooper Jr.; her siblings-in-law, Sylvia Oney (Joe), Helen Hitchens, Theodore Hitchens (Ardella), William Alvin Hitchens (Claudette) and Chester Twine; and her daughters-in-law, Vera "Polly" Hitchens and Vanessa "Sue" Hitchens.

She is survived by: her friend Elizabeth Carter; her children, Donald Hitchens Jr., Michael Hitchens (Elaine), Kenneth Hitchens (Migdalia) and Rochelle Camper (Kendall); her sister Gwendolyn Twine; her brother-in-law Charles Wayne Hitchens; and her daughters-in-law, Connie Hitchens and Vanessa Drayton. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren.
