He is survived by: his wife Myrna Melvin; his children, Tabatha Gilberthorp (Bentley, Sr.), Kara Champlin (Morgan) and Richard Melvin, Jr.; his sister Moggie O'Neal (Joe); his grandchildren, Bentley Gilberthorp, Jr., Tucker Gilberthorp, Austin Champlin and Carson Champlin; and his friend Terry Chandler. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
