He was predeceased by : his parents, John C. Wingate and Cynthia C. Wingate (McNatt); his siblings, William "Billy" Passwaters, Catherine "Annie" Newcomb and John "Bobby" Wingate (Roxie Wingate); and his pets, Reggie, Riley and Bentley.

He is survived by : his brother Jack Passwaters; his wife Melanie Stephens Wingate; his children, Josh Wingate, Andy Sheppard (Sarah Sheppard) and Bailey Wingate; his granddaughter Emma Wingate; and his pets, Smudge and Nicky. He is also survived by his family, friends, and many coworkers.
