He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Burton and Ethelda Burton; his sister Jacqueline Smartt; his brothers-in-law, Richard Neal, Keith Hitchens and Rodney Hitchens; and his godson Dane Whaley.
He is survived by: his wife Angela Burton; his children, Kimberly LaToya Burton and Shane Burton; his siblings, Sandra Lee Neal, Fonda Meekins (Gary Meekins), Ronson Burton (Teri Burton), Robert Burton (Susan Burton), Risden Burton and Christina Jones; and his siblings-in-law, Terrence Hitchens, Sonia West (Randolph West), Harvey Hitchens, Jr. and Gerald Hitchens. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Evan W. Smith Funeral Services - Dover (518 S Bay Rd, Dover, DE 19901). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Israel United Methodist Church (20230 Plantation Rd, Lewes, DE 19953).
