Mary E. Stokes Obituary
We announce the death of Mary E. Stokes (Lincoln, Delaware), who passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 93. Mary will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parent Laffayette Williams; her husband William Stokes; her mother Janie Williams; and her siblings, Rudolph, LaSalle, Will, Russell Williams, Isabell Newby, Mocile Banks, Ethel Pettyjohn, Louise Hughes and Margaret McCoy.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Williams (Sharon), William Williams, Sr. (Carolyn) and Constance Williams; her sister Georgia Boone; her grandchildren, William Williams, Jr. (Becky), Quierra Evers (Jesse), Aljne Williams (Krystal), AGem Phillips (Alfonso), Shawn Williams (Nina Kennedy) and Monique Williams; her godson Charles Harmon; and her sisters-in-law, Ann Stokes Vaughn and Beatrice Stokes. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Welcome Full Gospel Holiness Church (8426 Brick Granary Rd, Lincoln, DE 19960). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church (18211 Beach Hwy, Ellendale, DE 19941).
