He was predeceased by: his parents, James G. Sr. Garcia and Elizabeth M. Garcia (McDermott); and his sister Patricia Brinkley. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen V Garcia (Sammons); his children, Jessa Garcia (Mark Pontius), Samantha Simmons (Eric) and Alycia Garcia-Mottinger (Thomas); his siblings, James Garcia Jr., Mary Lou Allison, Bernie Garcia, Lynne Garcia-Fahringer and David Garcia; his grandchildren, Nicole Reed, Phoenix, Lilith Channer, Sunday Pontius, Harper, Logan Simmons and Evie Deichert; and his great grandchild Daxton Schorah.
