She was predeceased by: her parents, I. Clifford Mitchell and Madelyn Mitchell (Lowe); her husband Vernon J. Hitchens; her brother Don Mitchell; and her brother-in-law Gerald Hitchens (Linda).
She is survived by: her children, Richard J. Hitchens (Donie) of Gumboro, DE, Micheal Hitchens (Pamela) of Millsboro, DE, Mark A. Hitchens (Peggy) of Millsboro, DE, Steven C. Hitchens (Saleicha Baksh) of Dagsboro, DE and Beverly Ann Truitt of Frankford, DE; her stepdaughters, Jennifer Elliott and Jillian Mullins; her siblings, Van Mitchell (Neva), Chad Mitchell (Tami) and Joan Tribbitt; her sister-in-law Beverly Mitchell; her grandchildren, Hillary Graves (Chip), Beth Evans (Nate), Heidi Hitchens (Brian), Heather Lecates (Thomas), Hannah Hitchens, Travis Truitt and Blakelyn Murray (Billy); her great grandchildren, Allie Graves, Caroline Evans, Charlotte Evans, Noah Lecates, Wyatt Lecates, Liam Murray, Lilly Hitchens, Abel Fitzwater and Rylee Fitzwater; and her siblings-in-law, Paul Hitchens (Norma Lee), Denny Cordrey (Debbie), Barbara Scott, Thelma Banks, Janice Robinson and Bonnie Abbott. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services (43 Thatcher St, Frankford, DE 19945). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
