John Avanzato Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Avanzato of Millsboro, Delaware, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 3, 2025 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Avanzato to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Augustine Avanzato and Theresa Avanzato (Rocco). He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggi" Avanzato (Blake); his children, Shawn Avanzato (Rebecca) and Dawn Marie Melson; his granddaughters, Danielle Melson and Mackenzie McQuowen; his siblings, Maryanne Arthurs, Michele Miranda and David Avanzato (Gail); and his siblings-in-law, William Blake and Mary Ann Scarpone (Ralph). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Anthony of Padua Church (901 N Dupont St, Wilmington, DE 19805). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. An entombment was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at the Cathedral Cemetery (2400 Lancaster Ave, Wilmington, DE 19805).
