He is survived by: his wife Joanne "Josie" Hawkins; his children, Tracey McMichael, Joanne Boddy, Chandler Jones (Sacha), Wendy Boddy and John Boddy, Jr.; his sisters, Cheryl Washington, Diane Ridgeway, Denise Hawkins, Cindy Outlaw (David) and Valerie Jean Thomas (Greg); his sisters-in-law, Barbara Rochester (Thomas), Linda Maxwell, Carolyn Bowman (Steve) and Patricia Anderson (Grant); his brothers, Ronald "Pete" and Robert "Bo" Hawkins; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Anderson (Joan) and Wayne Anderson (Mary); and his close friends, Walt Reed, Bob Marshall and Stanley Lum. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
