He was predeceased by: his mother Sallie L. Montgomery. He is survived by: his daughters, Sheila Montgomery and Jennifer Healy; his granddaughters, Ashley Montgomery, Sloan Healy, Laine Healy and Riley Montgomery; his siblings, Barnard Montgomery and Maxine King; and his close friend Julia Van Dyke. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
