She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Alvis and Lillie Marie Lambert (Mathena); her former husband John Lee; and her siblings, Carol Boyle, Lonnie Lambert, Dennis Lambert, Larry Lambert, Ruth Darnell, Kathy Stanley and Joyce Righter.

She is survived by: her husband Gettysburg; her son Shane Ellis; her granddaughter Kaylie Ellis; her sisters, Rita Cavallucci and Donna Crawford; her brothers-in-law, Thomas Crawford and Frank Boyle; and her close friend Lina Besteder. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
