We are sad to announce that on February 4, 2026, at the age of 70, Shane Wilmer Mercer (Newark, Delaware) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Nora Pennington and Wilmer Mercer; and his siblings, Sharon Bertogli-Carr, Shelly Richardson and Earl Mundy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Melissa Leonard (Brian) and Trish Mercer; his grandchildren, Jennifer McKinney, Kayla McKinney, Amy Pruett and Wilson Shane Leonard; his great grandchild Halley; his brother James Burns of Texas; and his cousins, Bonnie Phillips and Jimmy Phillips. He is also survived by Many nieces, great-nieces, one nephew, and many great-nephews.
The family asks that any donations be made directly to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
