He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer C. Layton and Virginia L. Archer; his parents-in-law, George W. Knox and Marie Knox; and his siblings-in-law, Judith D. Warrington, William B. Warrington, Jr. and Charles P. Townsend, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Knox; his children, Brian Layton (Lisa), Brooks Layton (Christy) and Amy Kernodle (Wil); his granddaughters, Katlyn Moore and Mia Marie Kernodle; his brother AJ Lathbury (Kelley); and his siblings-in-law, Mary Jane Townsend and Roger G. Knox (Sue).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services (38040 Muddy Neck Rd, Ocean View, DE 19970). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Mariner's Bethel Cemetery (81 Central Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970).
The family has requested that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution, to kindly consider donating, in his name, to Lower Sussex Little League, P.O. Box 320, Ocean View, DE 19970.
