He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Earl Tull, Elsie Tull, Edgar Thomas Ricks and Elsie Mae Honeycutt; and his parents, William Perrin Ricks and Jean Elaine Ricks (Tull).

He is survived by: his wife Marie Danielle Ricks; his sons, Bentley Dean Ricks and Brantley David Ricks; his siblings, Debbie Ricks Olsen (Scott), Dean Ricks (Stacy) and Bill Ricks (Pris); his nephew Justin Wainwright (Kelsey Vonlehmden); his nephews, Jonathan Wainwright and Garrett Olsen; his niece Megan Ricks; Jaxson Wainwright.

In lieu of flowers David's family asks for donations for funeral expenses.
