He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Purnell and Eliza Purnell (Hammond); and his siblings, Doris Sturgis, Beulah Massadin, James, Edward and Robert Purnell.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie; his children, Deborah, Anthony and Brian Purnell; his grandson Corey Davis; and his sister Mildred Milbourne. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 9:00 AM and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faries Funeral Directors (29 S Main St, Smyrna, DE 19977). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
