He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Sweeney and Josephine Sweeney (Smith); and his wife Cynthia Sweeney (Stecca). He is survived by: his children, Patrick, Colin and Margaret Sweeney; his grandson Eanair Sweeney; his close friend Jane Hofherr; and his sisters, Lisa and Karin A. Sweeney.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church (809 S Broom St, Wilmington, DE 19805). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
