He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Pauline Hudson and Wilson Starks; his brother John Wayne Shockley; his grandmother Ellen Hudson Wise; and his aunts, Thelma Shockley, Lillian Jones, Lola Smith and Aurella Shockley.
He is survived by: his children, Angela Starks Smith (Mike) and David P. Starks, Jr.; his stepdaughter LaTina R. Lidie; his grandchildren, Earl McCloud, Erica McCloud, Alexandra Harmon and Michael Harmon; and his great grandchild McKinzie Smith. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
