With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Deacon George T. Mitchell Sr. (Wilmington, Delaware), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 16, 2025 at the age of 102. He was predeceased by: his parents, Raleigh Lint Mitchell and Cora Webb Mitchell; his granddaughter Loretta Jane; his wife Louvinia; his children, Loretta Briscoe and George Mitchell, Jr.; his stepmother Essamond Turner Mitchell; and his siblings, Cora Webb, Mary Lloyd (Sis), James Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell, William Mitchell (Henry), Randolph Mitchell, Walter Mitchell and Oscar Mitchell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Eugene S. Mitchell (Joyce), Sara J. Shockley, Elizabeth B. Mitchell, Dr. Beulah M. Mitchell and Joan G. Mitchell; his sisters-in-law, Betty S. Mitchell and Doris Mitchell; and his grandchildren, Parrish Mitchell (Michelle), LaQuinta Mitchell, Yarnell Mitchell, Areatha Jones, Carla, Diana and DeLisa. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, 38 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great great-grandchild.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Calendar Bethel Pentecostal Church (2300 Pine St, Wilmington, DE 19802). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM.
