He is survived by: his sons, John Acker (Trisha Marston) of Mechanic Falls, ME and David Acker (Tonya Acker) of Wilmington, DE.; his grandchildren, Kirstie, Meaghan and Christian; his great grandchildren, Camden and Noah; and his sister Eleanor Hess of Wilmington, DE..

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Edwin's name to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
