He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schaal and Cora Schaal (Ray). He is survived by: his wife Rachel Schaal (Coyle); his children, Michelle Pantano (Paul), Michael (Ann) and Joe; and his grandchildren, Margeaux, Tristan, Braeden and Michael.
