Matthew Derek Holden Obituary

We are sad to announce that on November 14, 2025, at the age of 39, Matthew Derek Holden (Wilmington, Delaware) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, may Matthew find peace everlasting, cradled in the gentle embrace of the universe. And as we stand on the shores of remembrance, may his legacy inspire us to live each day with purpose, passion, and profound gratitude for the gift of life itself.

He was predeceased by: his father Michael Boykin; his son Miles Declan Holden; and his grandparents, Marain, Edward Boykin, Grace and Pernest Holden.

He is survived by: his parent Dorthea Alston (Holden); his stepdaughter Mckenzie; and his brothers, Michael Darren Holden (Elizabeth) and Avery Boykin. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Friday, November 21st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Canaan Baptist Church (3011 New Castle Ave, New Castle, DE 19720). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
