It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Michael Derrick Mills (Wilmington, Delaware), who passed away on August 31, 2023, at the age of 25, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Clinton W. T. Mills, Sr.; and his grandfather Sherman Walls. He is survived by: his mother Sonya Moneak "Nikki" Lewis; his friends, Frank and Zachariah; his siblings, Shakia Brown, Aaron Jackson, Clinton Mills, II, Ky'Aire Mills, Dy'Mere Mills and Kyla Mills; his grandparents, John Lewis, Sr., Genell Walls, Diane Gooden and Donna Ray Mills; his great-grandparent Freda Lewis; his aunts and uncles, Desiree Gasby, LaTonya Ashley, Ebony Scruggs Johnna (Donald), John Lewis II, James Mills, Mikiail Mills (Fatimah), LaRon Carter and Erik Ashley; his great-aunts, Emma L. Barnes, Mary Rodgers and Patricia Williams; his great-uncle Rufus Barnes (James Mills); Apostle Frank Burton and Nikki. He is also survived by friends, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Early in the pandemic, Micheal was employed by the City of Wilmington, where he was responsible for taking the temperatures of those essential employees required to work in the office.

To pay it forward, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Delaware State University.
