She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorothy Handlin and Albert Merritt; her husbands, George Donald Cooney and Francis P. Zimny; and her sisters, Jean Ahern, Charlotte Holloway and Deborah Lober.
She is survived by: her sons, Brian Cooney (Mary), Jeffrey Cooney (Elaine) and Daniel Cooney (Judi); and her grandchildren, Matthew Cooney (Molly), Monica Keady (Jimmy), Trevor Cooney (Alex), Stacey Cooney, Dana Llano (Rob), Patrick Baird (Kaela) and Zachary Cooney (Megan). She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Mealey Funeral Home - Limestone (2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
