She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorothy Handlin and Albert Merritt; her husbands, George Donald Cooney and Francis P. Zimny; and her sisters, Jean Ahern, Charlotte Holloway and Deborah Lober.

She is survived by: her sons, Brian Cooney (Mary), Jeffrey Cooney (Elaine) and Daniel Cooney (Judi); her grandchildren, Matthew Cooney (Molly), Monica Keady (Jimmy), Trevor Cooney (Alex), Stacey Cooney, Dana Llano (Rob), Patrick Baird (Kaela) and Zachary Cooney (Megan); her stepdaughter Connie Zimny-Christopher; and her stepgrandchildren, Steven Shelton, Katie Boyle (Matt) and Sam Green. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
