With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen Robert Polkinghorne II of Apollo Beach, Florida, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 3, 2026 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Polkinghorne and Edith Polkinghorne (Livingston); his spouse Beverly Jean McDowell; and his sons, Scott and Ryan Polkinghorne.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Robert Polkinghorne III (Melissa) of Garner, NC, Michelle Crouch (Lee) of Mechanicsville, MD, Robin Shutes (Mark) of Baytown, TX and Sonya Bietila (Jay) of Apollo Beach, FL; his stepsons, Daniel Polkinghorne (Rhonda) of Lake Orion and Douglas Polkinghorne of Clio; and his brothers, Larry Polkinghorne of Clio and Danny Polkinghorne of Clio. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
