She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edward and Elvery Mae Hurst; her grandmother Essie Fipps; and her siblings, Horace Hurst, Buddy Hurst and Mary England.
She is survived by: her husband Curtis Newberry; her children, Curtis Newberry (Mary), Theda Faulkner and Ray Newberry (Peggy); her grandchildren, Ronnie Faulkner, Gene Newberry (Nancy), David Faulkner (Renea), Jim Newberry, J. R. Newberry (Ashley), Leah Stanley (Brian), Steven Faulkner (Ashton), Deonna Chappell (Adam) and Nick Newberry (Donielle); and her sibling Essie Cooper (Wayne). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Ruby and Curtis were also instrumental in helping establish the Upper Room Church of God in Arcadia by not only donating the property the church is located on, but also being pillars in the local church for many years.
