It is with sadness that the passing of Elfego M. Vargas (Avon Park, Florida) is shared. Elfego, born on November 12, 1952, passed away on September 26, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parent Carmen Mercado. He is survived by: his father Angel Vargas; his wife Maria Vargas; his children, Efren Vargas (Bethany), Gabriel Vargas, Elfego Vargas, Jr., Rosa Vargas (Antonio), Marisol Vargas, Minerva Vargas (Osvaldo) and Patricia Vargas; and his brothers, Angel Vargas, Jr., Adam Vargas, Santiago Vargas and Natalio Vargas. He is also survived by Numerous Grandchildren; and one Great Grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home (111 E Circle St, Avon Park, FL 33825). A Mass will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (595 E Main St, Avon Park, FL 33825). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Bougainvillea Cemetery (591 US Hwy 27, Avon Park, FL 33825).
