With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mother Evelyn Leona Foster (Baker, Florida), born in Portsmouth, Virginia, who passed away on December 6, 2025 at the age of 99. She was predeceased by: her parents, Anna Jackson and Vernon Saunders; her grandparents, Ida and Edward Jackson; her sons, Joseph Foster and Phillip Shands; her granddaughter Shanna Shands; her aunt Laura; and her cousins, Thelma Murray, Clarence Morris and Alberta Morris.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph Shands; her children, Timothy Shands (Charlene), Darrell Foster (Teresa), Michael Foster and Gina Foster; her grandchildren, Phillip, Jr., Courtney, Timothy, Bianca, Jenna, Olumbe, Suvi, Darrell, Jr., Sisi and Khare; and her cousin John Jackson Jr. (Chris). She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church (1288 Washington Ave, Baker, FL 32531). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 12:45 PM at the Beluah Cemetery.
