He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Whelan and Madeline Endrich Whelan; and his brother Dennis Whelan. He is survived by: his wife Karen Thomas; his daughter Althea Thomas; his grandchildren, Braedon Fulton, Alex and Landon; his siblings, Evelyn Whelan Rudolph (Mike) and Christopher Whelan (Anna); and his sister-in-law Heide Whelan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
