It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nila J. Garrett of Bartow, Florida, who passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid Nila farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Nila is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She is survived by: her children, Brian Garrett (Wendi) of Bartow and Kimberly Hendrick (Paul) of Bartow; her grandchildren, Zachary Hendrick and Jillian Hendrick; her great grandchildren, Zhane Hendrick, Eli Hendrick and Nyla Hendrick; and her sister Beverly Hall. She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Whidden-McLean Funeral Home (650 E Main St, Bartow, FL 33830). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
