He was predeceased by : his parents, Bessie L. Whaley Lewis and Joseph Lewis, Sr. of Washington; his wife Janie Murphy Lewis; his sisters, Rutha Mae Cartwright and Ollie Mae Dames; and his grandmothers, Jenny Russ and Minnie Kiek Weston.
He is survived by : his children, Mercedes Lewis and Joseph Green (Tamika) of Washington; his sisters, Ernestine Bethel and Dr. Sheila D. Long (Billie); and his grandchildren, Andrea L. Lewis-Conyer, Breeanna McCoy (Stephen), Joseph Green, Jr. and Hannah Green. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and family.
The family requests that those attending services for Mr. Lewis, Jr. wear masks and practice social distancing.
