He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Griffin and Ella Griffin; his daughter Lisa Ashlock; his sisters, Louise Barnes and Janie Kearce; and his grandson Daniel Kear.

He is survived by: his children, Johnny Griffin, Jason Griffin, Cherie Kear and Amanda Griffin; and his sister Dorothy Cox. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
