He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Peterson and Ella Mae Lee Peterson; his siblings, Louise Andrews, Martha Lee Peterson, Roosevelt Peterson, Barbara Peterson and Kenny Peterson; and his son Dave Peterson, Jr..

He is survived by: his siblings, Patricia Lee Peterson, Ordean Peterson, Jessie Peterson, Charles Peterson (Deloris), Rochelle Peterson and Calvin Peterson; and his children, Terrell Black (Kristin), Martin Peterson, Roosevelt Peterson (Tara), Gavin Peterson (Stephanie) and Tyrone Peterson. He is also survived by grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
