She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Cotter and Grace Cotter; her husbands, Billy Welch and James Kitchen; and her sister Sandra Nelson.
She is survived by: her children, Laura Burke (Kevin) of Jacksonville, Florida, Mark Welch (Debra) of Raleigh and Jill Griffin (Tim) of Wilmington; her siblings, Frederick Cotter (Linda) of Chattanooga and Karen Johnsrud (Charles) of Clark's Grove; her stepchildren, Ann Guillette of Alexandria, Virginia, Kris Miles (Dave) and James Kitchen, II (Susan) of Chapel Hill; and her grandchildren, Karli, Sarah, Brady, David, Matthew, Jackson, Keenan, Karsen and Dylan.
