He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gardner and Sarah Carter Bryars; his stepfather Glen Bryars; his brother Donald Gardner; and his daughter Becky Gardner Cooper.
He is survived by: his children, A. J. Gardner of Stapleton, Obie Davis (Renee) of Bay Minette, Alabama, Samantha Gardner of Stapleton and Debra Simpson (Robbie) of Bay Minette, Alabama; his close friend Renee Hendrix; and his siblings, Robert Gardner, Sr. of Citronelle, Johnny Gardner (Shelby) of Excel, Thomas Gardner (Tika) of Perdido, Eddie Gardner (Bess) of Rabun, Alabama, Theresa Gardner of Perdido, Rossanna Edwards (Shannon) of Citronelle and Katie Jones (Charles) of Rosington, Alabama. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
