She was predeceased by: her parents, William Nathan York and Eunice Pauline Gainey; her husband Ray Howell; and her siblings, Nathan York, William Henry York and Pauline Toole (Ellen Batson).
She is survived by: her son Steven Douglas Barefield; her siblings, Larry York of Vernon, Florida, Mary Finch of Chipley and Frances Bass of Graceville, Florida; and her close friend Beth Gates of Bonifay, Florida. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Obert Funeral Home Chapel (731 Kirkland Rd, Chipley, FL 32428). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
