He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thornton and Margaret Thornton; his sister Margaret Laughren of Hamilton; and his wife Josephine (Jo). He is survived by: his children, David and Patricia; his grandchildren, Dennis, Fiona and Ryan; and his nephew Peter Laughren. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
