He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Ann Pollock Mattern; his mother Mary Frances Dickson; and his stepfather Mike Dickson. He is survived by: his children, Robert Mattern of Florida, Michael Mattern (Michelina Accettullo) of Shelton and Pamela Dalling (Richard) of Stratford; his grandchildren, Ashley Barnum (Roy), RJ Dalling (Taylor), Brittany Gagner (Chad), Trevor Dalling (Jennifer), Emily Dalling, Lauren Mattern, Michael Mattern (Lisa) and Michaela Mattern; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Sophia Barnum, Riggs Dalling, Wyatt Gagner, Hailey, Colton Dalling, Zoey, Joey Mattern and Chloe Brown.
