In loving memory of Ruth U. Thurston of Bradenton, Florida, born in Norwich, Connecticut, who departed this world on May 22, 2025 at the age of 88. Ruth leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Ruth may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Ruth touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Thurston and Bernice Thurston (O'Connor); and her siblings, Esther (Wilkinson), Mary (Oakes) and Frank. She is also survived by her 2 nieces, 6 nephews, 7 grand-nieces, 6 grand-nephews, numerous great nieces/nephews, and several god children.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Catherine of Siena Church (243 CT-164, Preston, CT 06365). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
