He was predeceased by: his parents, William Key and Blanche Key; his son Matt Key; his sister Betsy Whaley; and his brothers-in-law, Ed DeLoach and Russ DeLoach.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Key; his children, Bart (Sondra), David (Katie) and Heather; and his siblings-in-law, Dr. Preston Whaley, Mary Ann DeLoach and Nancy DeLoach. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many extended family.
