He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murphy and Lola Murphy (Clayworth); his wife Norma; his daughter Lisha; his grandson Allen; and his sister Leona.
He is survived by: his children, John Murphy Jr. (Cheryl Sturdevant) of Davisburg, Leandra Jean-Michel of Brooksville, Florida and Brian Murphy of Gaylord; and his brother James Murphy of Pontiac. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
