He was predeceased by: his parents, James Holmes and Margaret Holmes. He is survived by: his wife Esther J. Holmes; his children, Ginger Dominguez (Felix) and Kim Matson (Richard); his grandchildren, Juan Bengoa, Jonathan Dominguez and Natacha Matson; and his great grandchildren, Kaleigh Beers, Jax Matson, Stella Dominguez and Dash Dominguez.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ocala Downtown Chapel (606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, FL 34471). The military honors will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).

“Joe has always played a part of my life and is one of the last links to my parents. He was always a strong spirit and as the song goes "He did it his way", not in a bad or malicious way. I learned a lot from his strong spirit and wish more people were like him.......strong, yet loving, honest, hard working and a man who enjoyed his life & his family. He will be missed.
