He was predeceased by: his parents, John Davis and Lila Davis; his wife Christa Davis; and his sisters, Martha Jay and Louise Landis.

He is survived by: his children, Gerlinder Smith (Rickey), Monica Mackey (Mike) and Otis Davis, Jr. (Peggy); and his grandchildren, Tabatha Okvath (Bryan), Christina Conner, Regina Mackey and Michael Mackey, Jr.. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
