He was predeceased by: his father James Edward Gilmer; and his brothers, Rickie Gilmer and James Hamilton Gilmer. He is survived by: his mother Zella Holley Gilmer; his son Rob Cook; his siblings, Ann Parish (David) and Charles Pete Gilmer (Rita); and his fiancée Marcia Haas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
