“The world dimmed when my dear friend and mentor passed. I met Rhino in the basement toxic gas bunker of a semicon facility in 1989, right after the Loma Prieta earthquake. He was friendly & extremely knowledgable chemical engineer whom I enjoyed working with and learning from. Later in life, after working as an independent consultant for 10 years, I became a grateful employee of his for the next 12+ years until he moved to Florida. I made bronze rhino for him as thanks. So sad. I will miss him!”

“This is very sad news. I know Reinhard from many years of ASME BPE attendance and working on committee work. As our friendship grew he shared with me that he was a Desert Storm veteran. As a gesture of friendship he gave me his Desert Storm military cap. I still have it many years later as a cherished heart-felt gift. I will miss him.”

“If Reindard wasn’t an EHS consultant, he would have been a comedian- he made safety fun and had a huge impact on the students he entertained at UC Berkeley as part of ISPE’s Bioengineering 25 program. He touched the hearts of many and will be truly missed. He was a great guy to work alongside and always had a smile on his face! Enjoy the next dimension!”

Lynn Caldwell wrote a sympathy message

“In the late 1980's, as a newly hired Fire Marshal for the City of Campbell Fire Department, I worked with Reinhard. He was a helpful, talented, intelligent, giving, humorous and loving man. He was proud of what he did for public safety. I recall his contagious laughter and how he spoke lovingly and proudly of his young son. Reinhardt made this world a safer, better place to live and work. With great respect and gratitude. You will not be forgotten. Mr. Lynn Caldwell retired BC, CNT.”

“I met Reinhard in 1989 when he was consulting for FMC, and I was the hazmat inspector. He stood out as an advocate for life and environmental safety. He was an exceptional instructor who shared his expertise with industry and regulators. His commitment to keeping all of us informed was invaluable. Working with Reinhard was a privilege. He was larger than life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His passing is a profound loss; we have lost a leader, mentor, and friend.”
